Charles Barkley got candid about what he would do to secure a $200 million dollar pay day that some LIV golfers are banking for leaving the PGA tour.
The Saudi-backed golf tour has been throwing money at players in an effort to have them abandon the PGA, prompting controversy. Phil Mickelson, for example, reportedly landed a deal with LIV worth $200 million.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show 2.0 on Friday, Barkley said, “I want all the LIV guys on top of the leaderboard! I wanna see the PGA tour shaking in their damn boots. And I mean, listen, I’m not a religious dude, but I want chaos the weekend at the US open!”
After breaking down the players of the LIV tour, McAfee agreed, “There’s chaos on the way, I think, Chuck. Honestly.”
“I would love to see Dustin [Johnson] against Rory [McIlroy] and Justin Thomas. Cause man, that would be so awesome for TV. Uh, cause like I say, I don’t judge other people. Listen, if somebody gave me 200 million, I’d kill a relative!” Barkley joked.
“All right. That’s it. I’m not sure we can do anything else after that. I dunno what the next question would be. Uh, but we appreciate the hell outta you, Chuck,” McAfee said.
“Hey, I’m serious. Hey, they said, Phil Mickelson got $200 million and Dustin and Justin got $150 million. Hey, for $150 million. I’ll kill a relative, even one I like,” Barkley continued.
“Hey, I think that’s just signing bonuses by the way. I think there is — Yeah, Your golf game’s getting there. You might be getting the same thing,” McAfee laughed.
