Like the moon and the sun, the yin and the yang, Bella and Gigi Hadid are known to be dark and  light, hair-colour-wise. While Bella Hadid is the epitome of Expensive Brunette, Gigi Hadid has long been a blonde, though in recent months she experimented with darker, redder shades. But fear not, those of you struggling with object permanence. Gigi’s blonde hair is back.

On 25th January, stylist Elizabeth Sulcer posted a picture to Instagram of the model posing in a baby pink suit with long, almost platinum waves. This is the Gigi you remember! Sulcer captioned the pic “GIGI ???? GLAM ????” and tagged NYC-based hairstylist Panos Papandrianos in the post, a hint that he might be responsible for her bright new shade. (Hadid is also in Papandrianos’s current Instagram Stories.)

The quintessential California girl has been on what can only be described as a colour journey lately. Her red-hair phase began in March 2021, when she embraced a ginger, Queen’s Gambit–inspired hue for the Versace runway show. In June she brightened the shade to a cheery cherry red. By the time she attended the Met gala in September, her voluminous red mane was reminiscent of the Little Mermaid’s. And since no hair transformation would be complete without a “bangs? bangs!” moment, she got blunt fringe in November. Then, to ring in 2022, Gigi went brunette.

Now, of course, she’s back to Sunny Girl Blonde, a shade you too can achieve with the help of a salon. Remember, it may take a few processes to get there, and be careful not to fry it with heat once it’s bleached.

Welcome back, Blonde Gigi!
