These days if we hit the McDonald’s drive-thru, the preschooler is getting a Happy Meal and the teenager is probably craving a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder with cheese. But when my oldest was little, we both loved the Chicken Snack Wrap. It was on the value menu and was perfect for a quick lunch or snack before after school sports.

Does McDonald’s Still Have Chicken Snack Wraps?

Sadly, no. Not since 2016 in fact. I hadn’t even realized it isn’t on our local McDonald’s menus anymore, but when I did I decided it was time to make them at home!

What Is In the McDonald’s Snack Wrap?

The snack wrap was a menu item at McD’s in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. It consisted of 100% white meat chicken breast, either fried or grilled, lettuce, shredded cheddar jack cheese and sauce (ranch, honey mustard or salsa), wrapped in a flour tortilla. It launched in the US in 2006 and then updated in 2007 with grilled chicken and honey mustard options.

Are McDonald’s Chicken Snack Wraps Hard To Make?

These are what I like to call “stupid easy” since there’s no real recipe per se, it’s more of an assembly project! If you have frozen chicken tenders and some sandwich ingredients on hand, you have a quick and simple summer lunch when the kids are starving and you’ve got a million things to do. My boys devoured them and asked for more!

How To Make McDonald’s Chicken Snack Wraps

You will need the following ingredients to build the perfect snack wrap:

  • frozen chicken tenders
  • green leaf lettuce
  • shredded cheddar jack cheese
  • ranch dressing
  • flour tortillas

I used frozen chicken tenders to save some time. You could absolutely dredge and fry fresh ones as well. Bake the chicken tenders on a large baking sheet according to package directions. I always add a few extra minutes to make sure they are extra crispy.

The kids can even help to assemble their own, making it a fun, hands-on lunch. They are great for a picnic in the park or even lunch on the go in the car too!

Best Tips For Copycat McDonald’s Chicken Snack Wraps

  • Look for the frozen extra crispy chicken tenders to get the best crunch texture when baked.
  • Make sure the lettuce is dry so the tortilla doesn’t get soggy. I like to chop it and leave it sitting out while the chicken bakes to help any moisture evaporate.
  • Most of my chicken tenders were large enough only one was needed per wrap, but for the smaller ones I used two.
  • For the perfect ranch drizzle, add some to a plastic storage bag, cut off the corner and pipe it on. A squeeze bottle would work too.

These Copycat McDonald’s Chicken Snack Wraps are sure to bring your kids to the table smiling and saying thank you! Summer lunch time stress gone!
