Irish company ONESONIC are relatively new players in the music tech industry but have already generated quite a bit of buzz around their early products, with the BB-HD1 and BXS-HD1 being generally well-received.

Looking to capitalise on their recent publicity, they have released their latest product, the MXS-HD1 Wireless Noise Cancelling earbuds.

It’s no secret that the earbud market has become very crammed over the last few years with customers being spoiled for choice at different prices. Meaning companies have really had to think outside the box to stand out from the rest of the competition.

ONESONIC’s MXS-HD1 are the second true wireless earphones in their range, but the first with Active Noise Cancelling, which when executed right is a great feature to have.

The MXS-HD1 earbuds look slick with their sleek compact bodies that fit securely in your ear. The ear tips feel really comfortable without being too invasive over long periods of usage.

The out of box ear tips are slightly smaller than the average earbuds and did fall out of my ear a few times, however, they do come with extra sizes which were a good fit.

The MXS-HD1 only comes in black, which looks pleasant, but it would have been nice to see them in a pearly white or navy blue colour scheme.

The MXS-HD1’s overall aesthetic is practical while being stylish, my only gripe is that they are susceptible to fingerprints and scuffs, it’ll be a nightmare if you drop them.

The earbuds come with a compact round case that is really convenient and perfect for carrying around. They always felt secure as they are magnetic and stayed safe within the case.

They come with an IPX4 rating which means they are resistant to rain or sweat, which is great as they can double up as your exercise earbuds.

The MXS-HD1 does come with simple touch controls that give you full autonomy over the earbuds and even have specific controls during calls which is fully welcomed.

They are very responsive and I was very happy to see that they had volume controls, which for some reason aren’t included in all wireless earbuds.

The audio quality is admirable with a lot of clarity while listening to music or taking calls. The 7mm dynamic drivers help give the bass a slight boost, but it still only sounds a tad better than cheaper earbuds on bass-heavy songs.

The active noise cancelling works fairly well depending on the ear tips you opt for.

Most unwanted noise is filtered out and even though it might not be as effective as some of the more well-known brands, it’s impressive for ONESONIC’s first time featuring the technology in their earbuds.

I had no problems connecting them straight out the box with my phone via its Bluetooth V5.0 connection.

The battery life matches the standard you will find from most earbuds on the market, with 5 hours of playtime from just 1.5 hours of charging which is great.

A fully charged case will provide an additional 20 hours of battery life which is great for long days out.

Verdict

The ONESONIC MXS-HD1 earbuds are a great follow up to the BXS-HD1, but for the price of £109.99, they are still lacking some key features that are synonyms with today’s earbuds.

The omission of in-ear detection means the battery can drain as it won’t turn off or pause automatically. Also not having any way to customise the EQ settings is a bit of a missed opportunity.

However the MXS-HD1 is a really nice sounding set of buds that are practical for everyday use, they could just have a slightly lower price tag.

The ONESONIC MXS-HD1 Wireless Earbuds are out now for £109.99
